About Jaime Leigh
Hello! My name is Jaime Leigh and I am a photographic artist based in Lone Tree, Colorado. Making photographs and creating art is not only my profession, but it is an evolving journey of learning and connecting with life through a lens. Throughout my everyday living, I get to make pictures and art with the intent of sharing what I see with you. When we share our vision with other people, then their creative awareness may be heightened or they may become more inspired. For me, committing to the work and nurturing creativity to share with the world is a vital part of growing as an artist and brings purpose to life. Heed the call!
Take a look at the process behind the creation of the photographs and frames.
A "Jaime Leigh" Window Photo Frame
Finding the old antique window frames
is definitely an adventure! They are beat up and in bad condition. Occasionally
I will go to building supply stores or antique stores, but I have
the most fun at junkyards. Salvage shops are the most inspiring places. There
are treasures waiting to be found when I do a little digging. Upon discovering window pane frames, they bring a smile to my face. The
wheels in my head start turning as the windows are calling my name. It’s like seeing them for the first time, over and over again. As an artist, the beauty of restoring a window is
knowing the flawed and haggard frame can be brought back to life. These window frames have a story and they’ve been on a journey, similar to you and me. They once were brand new, shiny new paint, poured glass - put
in a house or a building to serve a purpose. As life goes on they were knocked
on, rained on, scratched, or cracked. The paint started to chip, the wood aged and the window was no longer able to withstand the weather.
The house was either demolished or the windows were taken out to be replaced. These antique windows have a great amount of character, imperfection and
tenacity. With some love, attention and kindness they serve purpose again and become a Jaime Leigh creation!
Through Your Window Images
The most exciting part of the process is
choosing my photographs for the fine art prints and mounting these prints to the frames. Once the window is painted, sanded, stained and waxed - the natural wood grain shines through and the image selection becomes a perfect match to the frame. It's delightful to see the image and frame come together, as if they were meant to be all along. A true piece of fine art, shining new light in your space. Enjoy looking Through Your Window.
